Fire-Safe Cigarettes

Governor Doyle signed a bill into law today that requires all Cigarettes sold in Wisconsin to be fire-safe.

Governor Doyle signed a bill into law today that requires all Cigarettes sold in Wisconsin to be fire-safe. The Cigarettes automatically extinguish when they're not being smoked. Wisconsin now joins 22 other states that only sell these Cigarettes. The measure had the support of firefighters and emergency responders and was not opposed by tobacco companies. Doyle signed the bill at a Beloit Fire Station. He says the new law will ensure smokers reduce the risk they pose to themselves and others.
