Cigarettes screen call

ANTI-smoking groups are demanding Victoria follow NSW and banish Cigarettes from the sight of shoppers.

ANTI-smoking groups are demanding Victoria follow NSW and banish Cigarettes from the sight of shoppers. The NSW Government yesterday announced it would to outlaw in-store cigarette displays as well as smoking in cars when children are present. The ban comes as the Victorian Government finalises its Tobacco Control Strategy, which anti-smoking group Quit hopes will go even further. Quit has delivered a wish list calling for bans on smoking on school grounds, and near hospitals and health care centres. But Quit executive director Fiona Sharkie said forcing retailers to keep Cigarettes under the counter was the most important reform needed in Victoria. "We really want them out of sight because we know that leads them to being out mind," she said.
